ABOUT OUR PASTOR

Elder Melvin T. Brown, Pastor of Restoration & Praise Christian Fellowship Center, is a man of sincere faith who has a genuine love for God’s people and honors the call the Lord has placed upon him to share the gospel of Christ with others.  After growing up in the A.M.E church as a youth and young adult, in 1991, he made the committment to serve the Lord as an adult whereby he then established a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord led him to join Greater Love Church of God in Christ where he became actively involved and served faithfully. Pastor Brown received the call to preach God’s word in 1995 and, with the approval of his Pastor, Superintendent Charles J. Brantley, he was licensed as a Minister in the Church of God in Christ.  In June of 1997, while being faithful in service as a minister, he was recommended to the Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop E.L. Sheppard, for ordination as an Elder and was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ in July of 1997 at the 77th Annual Holy Convocation of the Western Florida Jurisdiction in Orlando, Florida.

As an Elder, Pastor Brown continued in the work he was already faithfully doing and was also appointed as an Administrative Aide to work directly with his Pastor in overseeing the men of the church.  During his eleven year tenure at Greater Love, his service included leading the Street Ministry, being President of Ward Joy (a membership auxiliary), a Trustee Board member, and the Men’s Class Sunday School Teacher.
In 2001, with his Pastor’s blessing, Pastor Brown moved forward with the call the Lord had placed upon him to pastor.  He founded this church, Restoration & Praise Christian Fellowship Center, “The Ministry with God’s People at Heart,” where souls are continuing to be blessed and fed the Word of God.

As a Pastor, he has a vision to see God’s will fulfilled through effective ministry and knows firsthand the importance of restoring God’s people to Him and providing them with purpose and direction in their lives.  He is committed to going that extra mile to guide persons to wholeness and completeness in Christ and provide a ministry where there is total freedom to worship and praise God.  It is his sincere desire that every member of Restoration & Praise Christian Fellowship Center be an overcomer and have victory in their life through Jesus Christ!  Pastor Brown is truly one of the kindest and gentlest souls you will ever meet and is genuine in his love for God’s people and his love for Christ.

On a personal note, Pastor Brown received his education from Rickards High School, Prairie View A&M University, the Tallahassee Bible Institute, and C.H. Mason Bible College.  He has been married to his sweetheart--our First Lady--Stephanie Brown, since 1992, and has two children; a daughter and a son, whom he loves dearly.  He is an avid football fan and loves to cheer for the local Tallahassee teams, for the Prairie View Panthers (where he played college football) and for the Dallas Cowboys, another favorite Texas team in which he grew up watching his uncle play as a corner back.

We consider ourselves blessed to have Pastor Brown as our spiritual leader and thank God for his awesome teaching ministry.  It is very obvious that his passion IS to do the work and will of the Lord.  Loving God and family, reaching people for Christ, and pastoring Restoration & Praise are truly his heart and joy!

We Love God's People!

We are truly the "Ministry with God's People at Heart!"  From the person who greets you at the door all the way to our warm-hearted and kind-natured Pastor, you will find that we love God's people at Restoration & Praise!

Our church, Restoration & Praise Christian Fellowship Center,
was formed in March of 2001, as a family worship center where everyone from the customary worshipper to the person who has never been involved in church can feel welcome and “at home” with our worship services.  Our congregation, while predominantly African-American, is multi-racial and open to all of God’s people.  We are an appointed ministry with a passion to reach God’s people with a timely message of hope in Christ, and encouraging those who already know Christ to become more effective and productive Christians through ministry, outreach, education and fellowship.

At Restoration & Praise, a Church of God in Christ ministry, we are committed to guiding persons to a closer personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have purposed to teach the Word of God (the Bible) effectively so that people know how to apply it to their lives and know their purpose.  Our Worship Services and Specialized Ministries were designed to encourage spiritual and personal growth and be relevant for today’s worshippers.  We have a comprehensive vision to become a light for Christ in this community and be able to be a blessing to those the Lord sends across our path.  We are diligent to the cause of Christ and love God’s people!

We invite you to attend any of our services at any time; there are always opportunities for you to worship.  Our Sunday Morning Worship Service is held every Sunday morning at 11 a.m., our Bible Study is held every Wednesday at 7 p.m., and our ministries for men, women, youth, married, and single persons are held all throughout the month.  Please click on our Services page and Calendar page to see a listing of all our services and events.
